Syed Aun-Mohammed Akhtar

Solicitor & Principal Advisor

Syed Aun-Mohammed Akhtar (“Auni Akhtar”) is the founder and Principal Advisor of Archway Migration Advisory. He is a solicitor specialising in immigration, asylum and public law, with experience spanning private immigration, corporate immigration, human rights and complex public law challenges.

Auni trained and qualified at a Legal 500-recognised law firm with a strong reputation for immigration, public law and human rights litigation. His work included representing vulnerable clients such as victims of trafficking, individuals with mental health conditions, survivors of torture and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. He has prepared and presented appeals before the Immigration and Asylum Chamber, developing strong advocacy experience in complex immigration and asylum matters, and has experience assisting on wider public law challenges connected to government immigration policy.

He later worked within leading global corporate immigration practices, advising multinational companies and organisations on sponsor licence compliance, skilled worker applications, right to work obligations, UKVI compliance and wider global mobility matters.

More recently, Auni worked at Praxis, an award-winning human rights charity supporting migrants, refugees and individuals facing insecure immigration status. This further strengthened his commitment to accessible, rights-based legal representation and community-focused advocacy.

Auni is authorised at the highest level by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA). The IAA Level 3 qualification represents the highest level of competence required to provide complex immigration advice and legal representation in the United Kingdom. He is also accredited as a Senior Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme, reflecting recognised expertise in complex immigration and asylum matters.
